He is also the Founder and President of the Winkler Hockey and Breakfast club. They currently have 27 youth attending ice sessions and enjoying a nutritious breakfast together weekly.

When asked to describe their coach, the students replied with words like, “fantastic”, “awesome”, “great coach”, and “best one ever”. In addition to the rave reviews from the students they also really enjoy the ‘pasta parties’ and ‘pot lucks’ that he hosts in order to bring about real team spirit.
When asked of a student, “why do you coach?” His reply was “My highlight will be seeing your face light up when you realize the thrill of accomplishment! You will say, “I did it”, and I will go home and know you did.
